Finally the third chapter of the Cocorico' and Mantra Vibes saga is ready - this time at the mix: french talent Ivan Smagghe
Considered as a true 'Rockstar' of the turntable, idolized and revered by fans in any cool angle of the World, Ivan Smagghe has his youth background
behind the bench of Rough Trade Parisian Branch (to which he owes his vast knowledge of music) while together with Arnaud Rebotini was half of the historic Blackstrobe, the group that has literally shaken the scene electro-dark-wave = electroclash at the turn of the millennium.
After the experience Blackstrobe, Ivan moved to London and completely turned his energies into the DJ solo career, whose ability has been demonstrated in the past through mixing compilations such as the Fabric, Death Disco (Eskimo), Suck my Deck and the epic KILL THE DJ inspired to the evening where Smagghe is resident.
The Smagghe Experience leaves something strong to those who have the chance to live it, as he saysin the credits of this compilation: “I strongly believe that a mixed cd never is a transparent image of what one plays in club: In your car or at home, you are not in a club and I haven't got you in front of me. But this is as close as I could get. I am not sure it has a style. Or may be this no style is mine”. ... in fact, Battles, Ricardo Villalobos, Radio Slave, DJ Koze, Andrew Weatherall and his Two Lone Swordsmen are incredibly mixed with the most exclusive minimal-techno in circulation,Detroit pulse and new wave touches for one of the best mix-cd ever published in Italy.
